Where have you been?

Well first off I have still been riding my Roketa Scooter!  It is still running great but I am admit-tingly riding it less but for a good reason.  I decided to fix up an old 1957 J.C Higgins bike and attempt the following.

First I want to ride a bicycle to work and back home from work to get some much needed exercise.  But I come home for lunch and can't take an hour getting home and back would be my entire lunch!

This is where the Roketa Scooter comes in you see I now have it at work almost full time.  Under the guard of  my companies security cameras of course and protected by an awning from the elements.  This allows me to leave for lunch and go home in about 10 minutes, then spend some time with the family and head back to work.  I can ride my bike to work and home at the end of my shift but have the scooter for lunch breaks or emergencies.

I'm now spending around $3.50 on gas a week!  and I'm riding around 45 minutes a day six days a week on my bike so I'm getting plenty of exercise.  The scooter still comes in very handy and I'm still putting around 50 miles a week on it with absolutely NO PROBLEMS.  It is running as good as the first day I bought it I have no regrets and would say to anyone out there wondering if they should purchase one YES!

Here is a picture of my new commuter bicycle;

I built the above bike from a rusted out hunk of steel I got for close to nothing  as it was missing so many parts.  I have pictures of the rebuild process and parts I used as well as before and after pictures of the bike.
I'm spending more time on my other blog simply because I like promoting the bicycle culture and the great environmental effects it has on the world around us.  I still believe that scooters are a great deal better than cars or trucks for day to day commuting and would not have been able to make the jump from car to bike without the scooter and still could not do without it.  I use it very day when I need to go some where fast while still sipping gas.
For slower rides I ride my bike my body is happy and I am happy with the commitment I have made to the project.

Peace happy bicycling or scooting which ever you prefer
